| Haywood Community College Professional Crafts Graduates 2009 A Gallery Exhibition Featuring Clay, Wood, Fiber, and Jewelry Works |
| Graduate Exhibition at Gallery 86 Marks Inaugural Show for Haywood County The Haywood County Arts Council’s Gallery 86 is pleased to present “Haywood Community College Professional Crafts Graduates 2009: A Gallery Exhibition” beginning Wednesday, April 29, 2009 through Saturday, June 13, 2009. The gallery hours are Monday-Saturday from 10-5pm. The Meet the Artists reception will take place on Friday, May 1 from 6:00pm-9:00pm in conjunction with Waynesville’s first Art After Dark in 2009. The public is cordially invited to attend. The partnership between the Arts Council and the Haywood Community College’s Professional Crafts Department has resulted in the selection of Gallery 86 as the first exhibition site in Haywood County to host a Professional Crafts Graduate Show. Past exhibitions have taken place in Asheville with last year’s show held at the Grove Arcade. |



The thirteen graduates of the intensive three-year program are Beth Ann Cobb, clay; Benjamin Green, wood; Lydia Hearne, clay; Amanda Humphreys, clay; Angela Jenkins, clay; Ashley Leek, clay; Melissa Morris, jewelry; Wanda Stanley, clay; River Takada-Capel, textiles; Kenneth Tuell, wood; Ellen Van Mansvelt, jewelry; Wendy Wurstlein, clay; and Dijvael Zufoh, jewelry. | been carefully handcrafted by students in one of the most highly- respected professional crafts programs in the country. The artwork will represent a range of craft including clay, metal, textile, jewelry and wood. A second graduate show is scheduled at the Fine Arts Museum on the campus of Western Carolina University from May 21- July 25 with an opening reception on May 22, 2009 in Cullowhee.
