In the Fall of 2004, There were several people in the old HCAC office doing a newsletter mailing. Jane Lesesne casually commented that the Haywood County Arts Council needed a Volunteer organization like a Guild. The see was planted, and in February 2005, the HGuild of the Haywood County Arts Council was born. The first slate of officers was installed in May 2005. They were Norretta Taylor, Sharon Hall , Pat Wall, Jenny Nimnick and John Shafer.
We are a group of volunteers from all walks of life who are interested in the arts. We are natives to Waynesville, and newcomers, seasonal and full-time residents. We understand the importance for maintaining the arts for the good of Haywood County.
