The works of Richard Baker, Painter of Appalachian Fine Art, capture the grand views of western North Carolina’s mountains. He is a self-taught artist primarily working in oils and graphite.
Richard paints from nature and in his studios. “I paint every day. How could I not capture the beauty of these mountains?”
Richard is known for his mastery of water, light, and Southern Appalachian landscapes. “I just love to capture the mist rising from the mountain, ever-changing light, and the color of the four seasons,” Richard likes to say. “My drive is to paint it all – we will see how far I get”.
He produces 75 to 100 pieces a year, including commissioned works. His paintings are in collections across the United States. Richard likes to explain his prolific work ethic in this way: “Painting is my breath, my life. and in the core of my soul.”
