Wendelyn Cordwell

Wendy is a 1973 graduate from SUNY Potsdam but it wasn’t until 2003-2010 that she pursued art education at HCC taking drawing, watercolor, and design and composition classes from instructor Lil Parks.   After studying watercolor and wanting to take a break, she discovered figurative collage by Elizabeth St. Hillarie, and purchased her instruction book in 2011, and taught herself the process. She found she enjoyed working with acrylic mediums and the concept of making a lifelike image with torn paper to be fascinating. Collages are done on a cradled birch panel; acrylic paints cover a variety of papers and provide her palette to “paint” from.  Gloss gel medium is the glue and an UV protection is in the varnish to prevent fading. Her work can be found in galleries in NC, FL, and NY.
