Jewelry Enameling Class with Ilene Kay

Enameling is the art of fusing glass to metal. This workshop is a great introduction to enameling as students will learn the steps to prepare copper for enameling. Sifting and Sgraffito techniques will be utilized for this project to create wonderful colors on metal. This is a beginner workshop, where each person will leave with a finished piece of jewelry.
Ilene Kay – Artist Bio
Ilene is a jeweler who works with Argentium Silver, Gold, heat colored Titanium and Copper using traditional fabrication metalsmithing techniques. She is inspired by the natural world and each piece of her work has a unique story to tell. Her work has a Zen-like love of the natural world that makes us mindful of the beauty of the elements that surround us.
Teaching classes and workshops is a wonderful experience for her. Her passion for jewelry is conveyed to her students and the students often have a unique way of approaching a technique or project that keeps jewelry making fresh and exciting.
