HAYWOOD HANDMADE — The Haywood County Arts Council welcomed donors, artists and volunteers to take a sneak peek of their new gallery space earlier this month.

A grand opening for the newly renovated gallery of the Haywood County Arts Council in downtown Waynesville will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 6.

The arts council has spent the last three months renovating its gallery space, which has been renamed Haywood Handmade Gallery.

“It was tough being closed for so long, but we are really happy with the final product and super excited to welcome the community back into the gallery,” said Morgan Beryl, HCAC executive director.

While the gallery reopened earlier this month, the grand opening is begin held to coincide with Art After Dark, a gallery stroll held the first Friday of the month in downtown Waynesville.

The event will include live music by Mad Mike Martinez, youth crafts, food and drink, artist demos, and a raffle for Smoky Mountain Bluegrass Festival tickets. Supporters of the event include Maggie Valley Wellness Center, Lift your Spirits, and the Cheesecake Mousse.

The Haywood Handmade Gallery is located at 86 N. Main Street. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sundays.
