Every stitch tells a story of color, texture, and connection. My textile art is inspired by the beauty of the Western North Carolina mountains—their rich colors, changing seasons, and layered textures. Rooted in traditional quilt-making techniques and guided by a playful, contemporary approach, I use batik and hand-dyed fabrics to layer color, shape, and texture into expressive fiber art. Hand embroidery and unexpected materials add movement, detail, and personality to each piece. My goal is to create artwork that sparks joy and hope while inviting viewers to see the wonder in the natural world.
Julie Bagamary of Fairview, NC, is a Textile Artist, Instructor, Speaker, Author, and member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Her award-winning work has been exhibited in galleries, curated and juried exhibitions, and is held in private collections around the world.
