Karen Stockwell

Creative Energy, Fiber

Karen has been making art  in various forms for most of her life, but color and texture is her passion and she ultimately turned to textile art and beading. Her work has been in major national & international shows as well as being in corporate & private collections, and in various print media.

Loving to travel, the colors and ethnic elements of places she’s visited have influenced her work.  Lately her art alternates between realistic wall pieces—landscapes, people, animals—and colorful graphic contemporary pieces.

Besides making art, Karen has taught quilting in the U.S. and previously on cruise ships, most notably as artist in residence on a Crystal Serenity World Cruise for 4 ½ months.

A Michigan transplant who was in FL for 40 years, she now splits time between FL and the mountains of Western NC, an area rich in creativity and art, with her husband and  2 yr old Sheltie.
